Ryan Finlay laughed as he was sentenced to 45 months for his role in a drug operation
Finlay had just walked free from court for dangerous driving when he jumped right into this mess. He was supposedly put in charge of a graft phone after police seized £4,000 in cash from him. That phone was later found in his girlfriend’s pocket when the cops came knocking.
In court, it came out that this whole operation started back in April 2023. They even raided his home in Huyton last October, where they found the phone used for drug sales. It turned out that this phone was often linked to his address, and he even sent a parcel to Scotland from a local post office.
Finlay claimed he was just following orders after being arrested with that cash. He said he was supposed to pay off the debt but couldn’t manage it. He’s got a pretty long rap sheet, with 17 previous convictions, including a three-year stint for dealing heroin and cocaine back in 2016.
His lawyer argued that Finlay wasn’t the main player in the operation, but he did admit to using the graft phone daily. Finlay, who was wearing a turquoise Nike t-shirt in court, ended up getting 45 months in prison. The judge made it clear that his drug involvement was the reason for his sentence and warned him that things would only get worse if he didn’t change his ways.
As he was led away, Finlay put his head in his hands but then told his supporters, “See yous all this year. Love yas.” He even laughed as he was taken down to the cells, showing a bit of defiance despite the serious situation he was in.
