The Shelter charity shop in Edinburgh raised over £22,000 in just two days during its annual designer sale, setting new records.
On the first day alone, they made a whopping £17,300, which is a record for a single day. Shoppers were so eager for deals that some waited in line for up to three hours.
This sale has been a tradition since 2003, and it’s become a big deal for both bargain hunters and collectors. The shop is known for its unique items, from designer clothes to rare books and vintage jewelry.
Some of the standout items this year included a rare copy of “A Christmas Carol” for £500 and a chic Chanel suit for £150. Can you believe someone spent nearly £2,000 on books, including a signed David Attenborough collection?
The excitement didn’t stop there. Customers also grabbed some stunning 1920s amber jewelry and high-end brands like Gucci and Burberry.
Pete Jew, the shop manager, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, saying it’s all thanks to the generous donations from customers.
Alison Watson, director of Shelter Scotland, highlighted how this event not only offers great finds but also raises essential funds to combat homelessness in Scotland. It’s heartwarming to see such enthusiasm year after year!
