A suspect in the fatal stabbing of 15-year-old Elianne Andam was arrested with blood on his thumb, raising questions about the tragic incident.
Croydon: A young man was arrested just 90 minutes after he fatally stabbed 15-year-old Elianne Andam over a dispute about a teddy bear. The court heard that Hassan Sentamu, 18, used a kitchen knife during the attack.
It all went down outside the Whitgift Centre in Croydon. Elianne was stabbed multiple times after Sentamu refused to return some belongings to her friend. After the attack, he fled the scene.
Sentamu tossed the knife, which had Elianne’s DNA on it, and hopped on a bus heading home. Police were alerted, and an officer spotted him on the bus, leading to his arrest.
When detained, Sentamu initially gave a false name but was quickly identified. Officers noticed blood on his thumb, which raised alarms about his involvement in the crime.
Despite the chaos, officers tried to save Elianne, but sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. The trial is ongoing, with Sentamu admitting to manslaughter but denying murder, claiming he lost control due to his autism.
