A shop in Whalley Range has been transformed into a takeaway without proper planning approval, prompting a retrospective application.
Whalley Range: So, there’s this shop that got turned into a takeaway without the right planning permission. Farman Ahmed, the owner, is now asking Blackburn with Darwen Council to approve it retroactively.
He’s already made the switch at 61 Whalley New Road, changing it from a retail space to a hot food takeaway. Plus, he added a rear extension and a new shopfront to spruce things up.
In the application, he mentioned that this change would really make better use of the space. It’s all about maximizing the potential of the site for the future, you know?
The statement also pointed out that the property is in a busy shopping area with a mix of businesses and homes. There are even flats above some of the shops, but there’s no off-street parking available.
Basically, the application is for a place that used to be a retail unit with a flat above. Now, it’s a hot food takeaway, but the flat is still there for the owner to live in, not for renting out.
They’ve updated the shopfront to make it look modern, but it’s still in line with what was there before. The owner is hoping the local council will back this change since it could really help the business and improve the area.
