Residents express sadness and frustration over the closure of Select Fashion in Kidderminster
Kidderminster: The news about Select Fashion closing down has hit the town hard. The store at the Swan Centre is the latest casualty in a string of closures.
People are taking to social media to share their feelings. Many are upset and frustrated. Sharon Wiltshire summed it up well, saying, “There will be nothing left in that centre.”
Monique Williams echoed that sentiment, calling it “another one gone just adding to the ghost town.” It seems like everyone is feeling the pinch.
Kath Watters even referenced a song, saying, “This place is getting like a ghost town. Like the Specials sing.” It’s clear that the vibe in Kidderminster is changing.
Some folks are pointing fingers at online shopping for the decline of high street stores. Martin Snow remarked, “Perhaps if people didn’t keep buying things online everything would be better.”
Wendy Fox added that since Covid, online shopping has taken over. She noted that only coffee shops, charity shops, vape shops, and nail salons seem to be thriving.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, Select Fashion announced their closure at the end of January. They expressed sadness and gratitude to their customers for the support over the months.
They also reminded everyone to use any credit vouchers before the store closes. “Please do come and support us,” they said, hoping to see familiar faces one last time.
