London: Exciting news! The Silvertown Tunnel is finally set to open on April 7, 2025. This tunnel will connect the Greenwich Peninsula to east London, making life a bit easier for commuters.

Transport for London (TfL) has been working on this project since 2012. The goal? To reduce traffic jams and help folks get around faster. Plus, it’s expected to improve air quality near the Blackwall Tunnel.

With this new tunnel, you could save up to 20 minutes during rush hour. But there will be some charges to use it. For example, off-peak fees will be £1.50 for cars and small vans, while peak charges could go up to £4.00. Larger vehicles will pay more, but the tunnel will be free overnight.

On the same day the tunnel opens, new bus routes will kick off too. The Superloop 4 will run between Canary Wharf and Grove Park, and guess what? It’ll be free for the first year! Buses will be running more frequently, and they’ll all be zero-emission, which is great for the environment.

Construction is almost done, and they’re busy with final touches and testing. They’re also setting up infrastructure for those zero-emission buses and a cycle-shuttle service under the Thames.

To help everyone plan their journeys, maps of local cycling routes will be available at bus stops. Plus, there have been upgrades to Tidal Basin Roundabout and new walking and cycling paths to make things safer and easier for everyone.

By spring 2025, improvements to Lower Lea Crossing will be finished, making it better for all road users. So, it looks like London is gearing up for some serious travel upgrades!
