Greenhithe: Kymm White, the owner of South East Dog Rescue, is feeling heartbroken. She’s worried that their kennels might close soon.

Kymm started this rescue back in 2009, and they’ve been at their current spot for five years. It’s grown from a small home-run effort to a lifeline for many dogs.

She’s taken in dogs from tough situations and has helped thousands find new homes. They’ve also provided food and support to families in need.

But just before Christmas, Kymm learned that the property they rent is up for sale. They’ve been lucky to stay there this long, but now the owners want to sell the land for warehouses.

This isn’t the first time Kymm has faced this. At their previous location in Maidstone, the kennels were demolished for housing.

To raise funds, they’ve set up a Gofundme with a goal of £1.7 million. This money would help them either buy their current site or find a new one.

Kymm explained that while the amount seems huge, their main goal is just to secure a place for the dogs. They want to avoid being in this situation again.

She dreams of owning a permanent home for the rescue. If they can’t raise enough money, they might have to consider temporary options, but that’s not ideal.

The fundraiser has already brought in nearly £32,000, and many people are showing their support. Kymm is also exploring other fundraising ideas.

Currently, there are nine sanctuary dogs at the site, and they can care for up to 25 dogs at a time. They’re getting requests to take in more dogs every day.

Kymm has dedicated her life to this rescue for 16 years. It’s been a full-time job, and she’s grateful for the amazing volunteers who help out.

She’s determined not to give up without a fight. The thought of dogs losing their lives because they have nowhere to go is heartbreaking for her.

Kymm has been a single mom throughout this journey, raising her daughter Skye alongside the rescue. She’s committed to making sure they can continue helping dogs in need.
