Muan: A recent plane crash in South Korea has left everyone in shock. It’s being called the worst aviation disaster in the country’s history, with 179 lives lost.

According to aviation expert David Learmount, a single mistake caused this tragedy. He believes that if it weren’t for a concrete wall at the end of the runway, everyone could have survived.

The plane skidded off the runway and hit a wall, leading to a massive fireball. Learmount pointed out that the navigation system, known as a localizer, was poorly placed, which contributed to the disaster.

He mentioned that most airports use collapsible structures for such systems, but this one was made of concrete. This design choice made the situation much worse.

Despite the chaos, Learmount praised the pilot for a calm landing attempt. The plane reportedly touched down at around 200 mph, but the wall was the real issue.

Witnesses described the horrifying moment when the plane hit the wall, resulting in an explosion that claimed most of the passengers’ lives. Only two people survived, a cabin steward and a stewardess.

As investigators sift through the wreckage, many questions remain unanswered. Why was the plane going so fast? Why didn’t the landing gear deploy? These are just a few of the mysteries that need solving.

There’s also confusion about the initial reports of a bird strike damaging the landing gear. The pilot issued a mayday call just a minute after being warned about birds in the area.

In the aftermath, the airline, Jeju Air, has expressed deep regret and promised to assist the families affected. The government has declared a seven-day mourning period for the victims.

As the investigation continues, the aviation community is left grappling with the implications of this tragedy and how to prevent such incidents in the future.
