Two individuals were rescued from a stranded boat in Southend, showcasing the dedication of RNLI volunteers during challenging conditions
Southend: On Saturday evening, RNLI volunteers were called out to help a boat stuck in the Hadleigh Ray. They got the alert at 8:37 PM.
When they arrived, they found two crew members on board. Thankfully, they were brought back to shore for health checks.
Martin Terry, a local councillor, praised the RNLI volunteers for their bravery and commitment. He highlighted how their work enhances safety in Southend.
He mentioned that various organizations often rely on the RNLI for support during emergencies. It’s great to see them stepping up again to save lives.
The RNLI received a request for help from HM Coastguard Southend that evening. They reached the scene by 9:11 PM and quickly took the two individuals aboard.
Although the crew members were quite cold, they didn’t need medical attention. The volunteers wrapped them in blankets before heading back to shore.
Once they were back, the RNLI team got their hovercraft ready for service again and switched their pagers back on.
It was a tough night with cold winds and sleet, but the volunteers were determined to ensure the safety of those they rescued.
Southend RNLI is one of the busiest stations in the UK and covers a long stretch of coastline. If you ever find yourself in trouble at sea, don’t hesitate to call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
