A man was rescued after his car plunged into the sea at Southend, with quick actions from the public and emergency services saving the day
Southend: On Sunday afternoon, a man drove his car right into the sea near Oliver’s on the Beach Café. It all kicked off around 1:39 PM when the coastguard got the call.
People nearby jumped into action, trying to help the guy. By the time the coastguard arrived, he had already been pulled from the car, which was a relief.
The coastguard and police worked together to get the car out of the water. They made sure to clean up any mess, leaving the area just as they found it.
A spokesperson from the coastguard praised the brave folks who jumped in to help, saying it showed the strong community spirit in Southend. They also thanked Oliver’s on the Beach for letting the man recover in their café while waiting for help.
As for the driver, he was checked out by the ambulance crew but didn’t need to go to the hospital. Just a wild day at the beach, right?
