A van crashed into a wall on Sutton Road, causing significant damage to a parked car and leaving the owner seeking information about the driver
Southend: Isabella Tisdall, 25, was shocked to find that a van had smashed through the wall outside her home on Sutton Road. The damage could cost her hundreds of pounds.
To make matters worse, her silver Fiat 500 was also hit when the wall collapsed. She’s been told it might need replacing, which is just a hassle.
Isabella is now on the lookout for the driver, who sped off after the incident. It happened between 12:15 PM and 12:45 PM on a Saturday, heading towards Scott’s of Southend garden centre.
She mentioned that a witness saw a white Ford van coming from the Rochford direction. Apparently, it mounted the pavement and crashed into the wall, taking her car along for the ride.
Isabella feels it’s pretty cowardly that the driver hasn’t come forward. If it was an accident, they should have owned up to it.
She’s also concerned about safety on their road, which has a 40 mph limit. Luckily, no one was walking their dog or jogging when the crash happened.
She’s reached out to the garden centre owners for help. There’s some CCTV footage, but so far, no luck finding a matching vehicle.
Isabella said people have checked their doorbell cameras, but they don’t go back far enough to catch the incident. She suspects the van was going pretty fast, given the damage.
With the garden centre being busy on Saturdays, she thinks more people might have seen what happened. Essex Police have been contacted for more information.
