A woman from Stanley received a community order instead of jail for assaulting an officer during a July incident
Stanley: Lisa Harrison, 45, from Coleridge Gardens, faced the music at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on January 6, 2025.
She was found guilty of assaulting PC Harris, an emergency worker, back on July 19, 2024. The verdict came down on November 12, 2024.
Instead of jail time, the magistrates handed her a community order. This includes a six-month alcohol treatment program and up to 20 rehabilitation activity days.
On top of that, she has to pay £100 to the victim, £150 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service, and a £114 surcharge for victim services.
The prosecutor, Paige Sparks, pointed out that the assault was serious, especially since it involved an emergency worker.
Harrison’s defense lawyer, Jaxon Taylor, mentioned that she’s ready to follow the court’s orders and is open to treatment as part of her recovery.
