Major roadworks on the A77 will impact traffic at key roundabouts starting January 10
Ayr: So, there’s some big news about roadworks on the A77. Amey is kicking off some essential resurfacing at Bankfield and Holmston Roundabouts. This is happening from January 10 to January 21, so mark your calendars!
They’ll start at Holmston Roundabout, and guess what? It’s going to be fully closed for the weekend. That means no traffic from 8 PM on Friday, January 10, until 6 AM on Monday, January 13. So, if you usually drive that way, plan ahead!
During that closure, the A70 will also be shut down on either side of Holmston Roundabout, but the A77 will stay open. If you’re coming from the east, you’ll need to take a detour via the B742 and A713 to get back on track at Bankfield Roundabout.
For those coming from Ayr, you’ll be rerouted through Holmston Road and Hillfoot Road to join the A77 at Bankfield. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it’s only for the weekend.
After that, there’s going to be another overnight closure on the A77 between Whitletts Roundabout and Bankfield Roundabout on January 13-14. Northbound traffic will have to take a different route, but southbound will just reverse the detour.
Then, from January 17 to January 20, Bankfield Roundabout will be closed again for the weekend. And there’s one last overnight closure on January 20-21. So, if you’re driving in that area, keep an eye out for signs and plan your routes accordingly.
Don’t worry, though; emergency services will still have access during all this work. Just stay safe and patient while they get the roads fixed up!
