Birmingham boasts stunning stately homes that highlight its rich cultural heritage and history
Birmingham: You might not think of stately homes when you hear about Birmingham, but there are quite a few gems here. The city has a rich history that stretches back for centuries. While some buildings are just ruins now, others have stood the test of time.
Let’s chat about some of the amazing properties that have shaped Birmingham into the vibrant city it is today. One standout is Aston Hall. This stunning Jacobean house was designed by John Thorpe and built way back between 1618 and 1635.
Then there’s Castle Bromwich Hall, another beautiful piece of Birmingham’s past. This Jacobean mansion was constructed between 1557 and 1585 by Sir Edward Devereux. Today, it’s a lovely hotel on Chester Road.
Not every building has fared so well, though. Perry Hall was torn down in 1927 when the city had to choose between saving it or Aston Hall. Sadly, Perry Hall lost out, and now all that’s left is the moat in the nearby playing fields.
