A Stockton man has been sentenced for repeatedly harassing his grandmother for money to support his drug addiction
Stockton: James Rollinson has been causing trouble for his elderly grandmother. He’s been hitting her up for cash to feed his drug habit, and it’s been a real mess.
The court heard that this 31-year-old guy showed up at her place four times, even though there was a restraining order in place to keep him away. Talk about ignoring the rules!
On November 2, he got out of prison and went straight to her house. She ended up giving him some cash just to get him to leave. But he didn’t stop there.
A week later, he showed up again, took £40 from her, and even grabbed some food. It’s like he just couldn’t help himself.
The poor grandmother was then bombarded with calls from an unknown number before he turned up again on November 13, and guess what? She gave him another £40.
Rollinson, who lives on High Street in Stockton, admitted to breaching the restraining order four times when he faced the judge.
His lawyer, Nicci Horton, said they were stuck in a cycle. He’s battling his addiction, and she’s holding out hope that he’ll change. But it’s tough.
The judge wasn’t having it, though. He sentenced Rollinson to 16 months in jail, saying it’s sad to see him back in trouble so soon after being released.
The judge pointed out that Rollinson’s history of harassment is long and troubling. He broke the order right after getting out of prison, and it’s clear he just kept putting his own needs first.
