Storm Éowyn has caused widespread power outages in Northern Ireland, affecting over 93,000 homes and businesses as officials urge residents to stay indoors
Emma Little-Pengelley, the Deputy First Minister, was on the BBC this morning. She stressed that everyone should stay home. There’s a real risk from flying debris, and we don’t want anyone getting hurt.
She mentioned that if people go out and get into trouble, it just means more work for emergency crews. And honestly, we don’t want to put them in that position.
The storm has caused nearly 500 outages across the region, and they were expecting it. The First Minister had a briefing with the Civil Contingencies Group and the police to make sure everything is under control.
Little-Pengelley reassured everyone that preparations are in place. She said the worst of the storm is happening now, but it will pass.
She also pointed out that they’ve been getting updates from other areas that were hit first. It’s serious, and they’re taking all the necessary precautions.
This storm is no joke; it’s a red alert situation. The flying debris is a major concern, so if you hear anything outside, just stay inside for a bit. Better safe than sorry!
