Rapper Stormzy has been banned from driving for nine months after using his phone while behind the wheel in London
London: So, Stormzy just got hit with a nine-month driving ban. Can you believe it? An undercover cop caught him using his phone while driving his fancy Rolls-Royce in west London.
The rapper, whose real name is Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior, 31, admitted to the whole thing in a letter. He was driving his Rolls-Royce Wraith on Addison Road when it happened.
The officer knocked on his tinted window and told him to ditch the phone and the tints. This all went down at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court, and it was quite the scene.
It happened back in March 2024, but he was only sentenced recently. Owuo had already been in trouble for driving a Lamborghini with illegal window tints that let in only 4 percent of light, way below the legal limit.
The prosecutor pointed out that his driving was dangerous and could have put other road users at risk. He was stopped by the police on Coombe Lane in Kingston upon Thames on October 17, 2023, after being warned about those tints before.
Before this incident, he already had six points on his license. The judge, Andrew Sweet, wasn’t having it. He banned Stormzy from driving for nine months and slapped him with a £2,010 fine.
He called out Stormzy’s driving record as “not good” and criticized his reckless behavior. Stormzy’s lawyer said he takes responsibility and has even removed the tints from his car.
