From new retail spaces to improved transport, Stowmarket is buzzing with anticipation for 2025
Stowmarket: The town is buzzing with excitement about what’s coming in 2025. Residents are particularly thrilled about the new M&S Foodhall and a fancy new bridge at the train station.
We chatted with locals about their hopes for the year ahead. Last year was a mixed bag; they were happy when the A14 reopened but bummed about the Christmas Fayre being canceled due to bad weather.
Now, with 2024 behind us, folks are looking forward to some big changes. The M&S Foodhall plans have really got people talking. It’s part of a larger retail park project that many are eager to see come to life.
Even though Tesco raised some concerns about the plans, a whopping 95% of residents support it. That’s a strong vote of confidence!
And let’s not forget about the new bridge at the train station. Construction is already underway, and it’s all about making things easier for everyone. The new bridge will have lifts, which is a big win for accessibility.
Plus, there’s talk of another drive-thru restaurant coming to Thorney Way. The Starbucks there has been a hit, and everyone’s curious about what might join it.
On top of that, the SHELF project is set to bring a new sports pavilion and facilities to the area. It’s all about promoting healthier lifestyles, especially since many kids in Stowmarket are facing weight issues.
Lastly, there’s a £1.5 million fund aimed at sprucing up the town centre. The council is keen to breathe new life into vacant properties and support local businesses.
