Stuart Hogg has been sentenced to community payback and non-harassment orders for domestic abuse against his estranged wife over several years
Selkirk: So, it turns out Stuart Hogg, the former Scotland rugby captain, has been in some serious trouble. He got a community payback order and a non-harassment order for abusing his estranged wife, Gillian, over five years. Can you believe it?
Hogg, who’s 32, pleaded guilty to domestic abuse last year. The court heard he was pretty nasty, shouting, swearing, and even tracking her movements. He sent her some really distressing messages, which is just awful.
He’s now got a year of supervision and a five-year non-harassment order hanging over him. It’s a real wake-up call, right? The court revealed he once bombarded her with over 200 texts in just a few hours, which led to her having a panic attack. That’s just not okay.
They had moved to Exeter in 2019 with their three little kids, but things went downhill fast. Hogg would get drunk and then take it out on Gillian, making her feel terrible for not joining in. It’s heartbreaking to think about how this affected her and their family.
In 2023, she finally decided enough was enough and reached out for help. After all the stress, she’s now focusing on moving forward and showing her kids that love and support are what really matter. It’s a tough situation, but it sounds like she’s ready to start a new chapter in her life.
