A former stuntwoman is facing serious charges for allegedly staging car crashes to commit insurance fraud in Louisiana
New Orleans: So, there’s this wild story about a stuntwoman who became a lawyer. Vanessa Motta, 43, is in some serious trouble. The feds say she staged car crashes to file fake insurance claims.
She’s one of eight people caught up in this scheme. Apparently, they would crash into big trucks on purpose and then just take off. Crazy, right? Motta’s husband and some pro drivers were also involved.
They had a whole system going. The drivers who hit the trucks were called “slammers.” Then, a getaway driver would help them escape. It’s like something out of a movie!
When the cops showed up, the passengers would say they were driving. Others in the group would act as witnesses and blame the truck drivers. It’s a mess!
Motta has pleaded not guilty, but her lawyer claims she’s a victim too. He says if the crashes were staged, she was just taken advantage of by others.
She opened her own law firm back in 2017, but now her license is suspended. She’s facing some serious charges, including conspiracy and witness tampering.
Before all this, she was in some big movies like *Jurassic World* and *Furious 7*. But things took a dark turn when one of the guys involved in the scheme ended up dead. He was shot by a former partner who didn’t want him to spill the beans.
One of the women involved said she was dating the shooter and was threatened if she talked. It’s all pretty intense.
Right now, Motta is out on a $250,000 bond, waiting for her trial. What a wild ride this has been!
