Suffolk Trading Standards is on the lookout for a rogue trader preying on vulnerable residents in Ipswich
Ipswich: There’s a bit of a scare going on in town. Suffolk Trading Standards is hunting for a rogue trader who’s been targeting vulnerable folks.
It all started last week when they got a report about a guy showing up uninvited in the IP4 area. He told a vulnerable resident that their roof needed work and somehow got them to agree to pay £2,500.
He promised to put up scaffolding and finish the job within the week. But after some digging by the victim’s friends and family, Trading Standards stepped in to stop him from coming back.
Now, they’re trying to track this guy down. If you or someone you know has had any unexpected visitors at your door lately, especially before Christmas, they want to hear from you.
They’re also asking for any details about the trader or the vehicle he might have used. If you can help, give Suffolk Trading Standards a call at 0808 223 1133.
A spokesperson shared some solid advice: never deal with traders who show up at your door. Always do your homework before agreeing to any work.
And don’t be swayed by flashy vans or fancy leaflets. Stay smart and safe!
