Newmarket: So, there’s this wild story about a teacher from Swaffham Bulbeck Church of England Primary School. Michael Lee, who was an assistant headteacher, got himself into serious trouble. He asked a former student to send him pictures of her while she was in the bath. Can you believe that?

He was banned from teaching after a misconduct hearing found he crossed some major lines. The guy was sending messages that were totally inappropriate and sexual in nature. It’s just shocking how someone in his position could act like that.

Lee worked at the school from 2016 to 2020. The whole thing started back in 2017 when the school first looked into his behavior. Initially, he got a written warning, but things escalated when the school joined a multi-academy trust in 2018. They took it to the Teaching Regulation Agency in 2019.

During the hearing, it came out that he had become friends with the former pupil on Facebook. He even complimented her looks and asked about her romantic life. It’s just so inappropriate for a teacher to be doing that.

At one point, he even asked her for pictures while she was in the bath and later when she was in bed. He admitted his actions were horrendous but thought he should still be allowed to teach. Thankfully, the panel didn’t agree and banned him indefinitely.

The school’s spokesperson said they took immediate action once they learned about the issue. They made sure to report everything to the authorities and reassured the community that student safety is their top priority. It’s a relief to see that they’re taking this seriously.
