An 18-year-old has been arrested following a tragic hit-and-run that claimed a woman’s life on New Year’s Eve in Paisley
Paisley: A tragic incident unfolded on New Year’s Eve when a woman lost her life in a hit-and-run. Elizabeth Kennedy, 70, was hit by a car on Barrhead Road.
This happened around 7 PM, and sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency services rushed to help, but it was too late. Police Scotland worked hard to find the driver who fled.
On Saturday, they announced that they had arrested an 18-year-old man. He was later released while the investigation continues. Detective Inspector Jan MacColl expressed condolences to Elizabeth’s family and friends.
They’re still looking for anyone who might have seen the crash or a white car in the area around that time. If you have dashcam footage, they want to hear from you.
Elizabeth was struck near the junction with Ladykirk Crescent, and the driver took off. Detectives are eager to track them down. Meanwhile, in another sad story, a woman named Kellie Alexander passed away just after Christmas.
She fell ill with flu-like symptoms and died just days later. Friends remember her as an amazing person who was always there for others. It’s been a tough time for everyone affected by these events.
