Cedar Park: A 17-year-old girl in Texas is in hot water for allegedly poisoning her classmate’s goat. She reportedly told the police she doesn’t like cheaters. Can you believe that?

This all went down in late November when she was arrested and charged with cruelty to livestock. She got out on a $5,000 bond the same day. The charge is pretty serious, too—a state jail felony that could land her in jail for up to two years and hit her with a hefty fine.

The whole thing was caught on surveillance cameras at Vista Ridge High School. The incident happened on October 23, and the footage shows her entering the goat pen with a syringe. She actually straddled the goat and injected it three times. Yikes!

Afterward, she didn’t just walk away. She came back twice a day to take pictures and videos. The goat, named Willie, was found shaking and convulsing by the student who cared for him. She called her mom, and they rushed him to the vet, but they couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

The next day, Willie was in so much pain that he died in his owner’s arms. It turned out he was poisoned with phosmet, an insecticide. How awful is that?

When the authorities caught up with the girl, she confessed a few days later. She claimed the other student was a “cheater” but didn’t explain how she thought that. It gets crazier—this was her second attempt at poisoning Willie. She had even searched online for ways to poison pets and how to clear her search history. Talk about a bad idea!

The Texas Future Farmers of America organization said they teach leadership and ethics, emphasizing animal welfare. They made it clear that they don’t tolerate any behavior that goes against those values. It’s a tough lesson for everyone involved.
