Sheffield: An 18-year-old tragically died after a car crash during a police chase in the city. It all happened on December 23 in the Hyde Park Walk area.
According to South Yorkshire police, the young man was driving a stolen black Ford Fiesta. Just before 1 PM, he spotted the officers and decided to make a run for it, leading to a short chase.
Sadly, the Fiesta crashed into a wall, and the teenager was rushed to the hospital but didn’t make it. The police confirmed that his family is being supported during this tough time.
After the incident, the police had to report it to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. They closed East Bank Road for their investigation, but it’s open again now.
The police are asking anyone who might have seen anything or has dashcam footage to come forward. They’re especially interested in info from the City Road, Park Grange Road, Spring Lane, and Northern Avenue areas.
