A teenager is on trial for murder after a fatal stabbing over a moped dispute in London
Hayes: A tragic incident unfolded when a 16-year-old named Kamari Johnson was stabbed in a dispute over a stolen moped. It all happened last May, and it’s been a tough case for everyone involved.
Kamari was found injured on Bourne Avenue after police got the call around 1:30 PM. Sadly, he died right there at the scene. A 17-year-old is now on trial for his murder.
During the trial, the prosecutor shared that the boys had been chatting on Snapchat about buying a moped. Kamari wanted £180 for it, but it seemed like the moped was stolen.
When they met up, Kamari took the cash and just rode off, leaving the other boy feeling pretty embarrassed and angry. Minutes later, the 17-year-old went to Kamari’s house to confront him.
Things escalated quickly. He found Kamari and stabbed him through the chest, hitting his heart. Kamari managed to ride off on the moped but collapsed shortly after and died on the street.
The jury saw CCTV footage showing the moments leading up to the stabbing. A witness even described seeing the defendant with a large, blood-stained knife.
Another video showed Kamari crashing the moped and then falling down. The defendant didn’t answer questions during police interviews, only saying he acted in self-defense.
He’s denying the murder charge and also the charge of having a knife in public. The trial is still ongoing, and it’s a heartbreaking situation for everyone.
