Joe Wicks visited Dunbar Primary School to celebrate their fundraising success and inspire students with fitness and fun activities
Dunbar: Joe Wicks, the fitness guru known as The Body Coach, made a special visit to Dunbar Primary School. He was there to celebrate the school being the top fundraiser in Asda’s Cashpot for Schools initiative.
This program lets shoppers donate a portion of their spending to a school of their choice. It’s a pretty cool way to support education while doing your grocery shopping!
Thanks to this initiative, over £5.7 million will be shared among nearly 22,000 schools across the UK. Dunbar Primary School raised an impressive £4,215.88, which Wicks presented to them during his visit.
The school plans to use the funds to upgrade their playgrounds and create a sensory garden. Wicks was thrilled to see the excitement on the kids’ faces as he handed over the cheque.
He shared how important this initiative is for kids everywhere, saying it makes a real difference. Wicks expressed pride in partnering with Asda to support families and schools.
During his visit, he engaged with the students, leading warm-up sessions and discussing the positive impact of investing in young minds. It was all about encouraging fitness and fun!
Emma Grierson, the deputy headteacher, couldn’t contain her excitement about Wicks’ visit. She mentioned how hard it was to keep it a secret from the kids, but they were over the moon to meet him.
Annette Newell, the community champion at Asda Dunbar, was equally delighted. She loved seeing the joy on the children’s faces and hearing about their plans for the playground upgrades.
Overall, it was a fantastic day for Dunbar Primary School, filled with inspiration and excitement, thanks to Joe Wicks!
