A couple and their dog were rescued by Tenby RNLI and Coastguard after being cut off by the tide at East Rock House
Tenby: This afternoon, the RNLI and Coastguard sprang into action when a couple and their dog found themselves stranded by the tide. It all happened between Castle and Paragon beaches.
They got the call just before 1 PM, and the inshore lifeboat was launched to help out. The dog walkers were stuck near East Rock House, and time was of the essence.
The RNLI crew was super quick and found the couple in no time. But, with the waves crashing, it wasn’t safe to reach them by boat. So, they stayed back and kept an eye on things while a Coastguard helicopter was called in.
Before long, the Coastguard team arrived, and one of the lifeboat crew members suited up in a drysuit. The waves were getting pretty rough, so they had to be careful.
They made their way across the rocks to check on the couple and their dog. Thankfully, everyone was okay, and they moved them to a safer spot, away from the waves.
Meanwhile, the Coastguard helicopter was circling overhead, but it couldn’t land safely due to the strong winds and risk of falling rocks.
After weighing their options, they decided on a rope rescue. The team carefully guided the couple and their dog across the rocks to a safer area where they could use some steps to get to a nearby garden.
With everyone safe and sound, the rescue teams wrapped up and headed back to their stations. What a day for the RNLI and Coastguard!
