A father in distress sent a final message to police before his tragic death, highlighting the impact of bail conditions on his mental health
Hebden Bridge: A heartbreaking story unfolded when a man named Jennon Freeman, just 31, took his own life after struggling with his mental health. He sent a final text to the police before he was found dead on a rural track.
Jennon was described as being deeply troubled just before his death on September 16, 2024. He was on police bail, which prevented him from seeing his daughter, and that really weighed on him. The inquest didn’t reveal much about the police investigation, but it was clear that the bail conditions were a huge source of distress for him.
His mother, Charlotte, expressed her heartbreak, saying the bail conditions were unbearable for Jennon. He had already gone through a tough time with his marriage falling apart, and not being able to see his daughter made everything worse. Even though his parents tried to check in on him, he always said he was fine, but they could sense his fear.
On the last day of his life, Jennon was in a lot of pain and couldn’t hide it anymore. Charlotte mentioned that he changed his will a month before his death, which she believed hinted at his intentions. It was a tough day for him, and he sent a delayed emergency text to the police, sharing his location and intentions.
When officers arrived, they found his body along with a suicide note near a van. The assistant coroner, Laura Fox, described Jennon as a much-loved man who was incredibly troubled. She shared how hard the last day was for him and how he felt that taking his own life was the only way to end his pain.
The coroner recorded a suicide verdict, noting that Jennon’s actions were premeditated. She offered her condolences to his family and friends, encouraging them to remember the good times they shared.
