Thomas Dures has been charged with the murder of Matthew Daulby after being extradited from Greece to the UK
Ormskirk: A man was arrested in Greece for the murder of a teenager in Lancashire. Now, he’s been charged after being brought back to the UK.
Matthew Daulby, just 19, was tragically stabbed to death on July 29, 2023. The accused, Thomas Dures, 21, was caught in Athens on December 2, 2024.
Lancashire Constabulary confirmed that Dures was charged with murder after arriving in the UK on January 7. The incident involved a mass brawl on Railway Road, where Matthew was stabbed in the chest and hit with a rock.
Earlier this year, Henry Houghton was found guilty of murder in connection with the case. A post-mortem revealed that Matthew died from a stab wound.
After discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service, Dures, who lives on Whalley Drive in Aughton, was charged on January 7. He’s now in custody and will appear via video link at Preston Magistrates’ Court.
A police spokesperson shared that officers responded to reports of a disturbance at 12:05 am on July 29. Sadly, Matthew was found nearby with serious stab injuries and later died in the hospital.
They also expressed their condolences to Matthew’s family, who are being supported by specially-trained officers during this tough time. The investigation is still ongoing, and they’ve asked the public to avoid speculation.
