Birmingham: So, a bunch of folks showed up in the city center, all excited for a fireworks show that turned out to be a total scam. Can you believe it?

People flocked to Centenary Square, thinking they’d see a dazzling display. But guess what? West Midlands Police had to break the news that there was no event happening. Talk about a letdown!

It seems social media and some AI-generated posts made it look like there was going to be a big fireworks bash. But it was all fake news. Thankfully, while there were a lot of people, the police managed to keep things mostly calm.

When midnight hit, some folks cheered, and one person even let off a firework. But there was no organized show, which is a bummer since Birmingham hasn’t had an official display in ten years.

The police had to remind everyone online that there was no planned fireworks event. They really didn’t want people making the trip only to be disappointed.

Superintendent Emlyn Richards said they were aware of the rumors but confirmed there was no event this year. They wanted to make sure everyone had a good time at the bars and venues instead.

While Birmingham was a no-go for fireworks, other places like Edinburgh had to cancel their celebrations due to bad weather. But London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks went off without a hitch!
