As severe weather continues, thousands in Ireland without power can find refuge in local hotels
Schools in some areas were closed due to the weather, but most opened up on Wednesday. Travel has been tricky too, with icy roads making it dangerous. The temperatures have dropped to as low as minus 6C, and it’s expected to get even colder.
The government is aware of the situation. Tanaiste Micheal Martin mentioned that Munster and parts of Leinster have been hit hard. He assured everyone that they’re doing everything possible to help those without power and water.
The weather warnings are in place across the entire country, and it’s not just about the cold. There are concerns about travel safety and animal welfare too. Met Eireann has warned that conditions could lead to dangerous travel situations.
The ESB is working hard to get power back to around 4,000 homes. They’ve been in touch with customers, letting them know about the hotel facilities. It’s a tough time, but they’re trying to make it a bit easier for everyone.
As the cold continues, it’s important for people to stay safe. If you’re out and about, be careful on the roads and check in on your neighbors, especially the elderly or those who might need a little extra help.
