Three individuals face court charges related to the tragic assault of Jake Bailey-Sloan in Portadown, which led to his untimely death.
Portadown: So, there’s been a lot of buzz about this tragic case. Three people are now facing charges for the assault on Jake Bailey-Sloan, who sadly passed away after a night out in 2021.
In court recently, they brought in Ethan Dougan, 25, from Collone, and 22-year-old Odhran Connolly from Portadown. Another accused, Beth Vernon, 22, didn’t show up for the hearing.
This was just a preliminary step, where they sort out if the case goes to the Crown Court. The charges stem from an incident on October 17, 2021, when they allegedly assaulted Jake.
Jake was just 23 when he collapsed on Mandeville Street shortly after the attack. He was rushed to the hospital but tragically died the next day.
During the hearing, Dougan’s lawyer mentioned they weren’t ready to move forward since they had just received the case details. Connolly’s lawyer hinted he might challenge the charges based on the evidence.
District Judge Michael Ranaghan decided to push the case to January 22, noting the situation is quite complex and has a very sad background.
