Plans are underway to transform a Blackpool home into a support centre for families, offering essential guidance and resources.
Blackpool: There’s a new plan in the works to turn a three-storey house into a family support centre. The Evergreen Care Group is looking to get the green light from the council for this project on Warbreck Hill Road.
The idea is to keep the homey feel while helping parents who need a little extra support. The goal is to help them learn the skills they need to care for their kids. According to the planning statement, the centre aims to keep infants safe by assessing parents’ abilities to provide care.
They’ll offer guidance to help parents build essential skills, so they can create a safe and nurturing environment for their children. There’s a real need for this service, and parents can be referred by local authorities or through court orders.
This centre could be a lifeline for families facing tough situations, like those on the child protection register or dealing with issues like learning disabilities, mental health struggles, or domestic abuse. It’s also for expectant mothers and parents who just need a hand with parenting skills.
The Evergreen Care Group’s manager has over ten years of experience in community health, especially with families and young children. They’ve worked closely with social care and other agencies to provide the support families need.
If approved, the centre will house up to four families at a time, offering them guidance from trained staff during a 12 to 16-week assessment period. The location was chosen for its accessibility and good transport links, making it easier for families to get the help they need.
Staff will be on-site 24/7, and they have a strict no-tolerance policy for any anti-social behavior or substance misuse. If anyone breaks the rules, it could lead to them being asked to leave.
The application is set to be reviewed by town hall planners soon, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens next!
