The Opportunities in Retirement group and Park Church Autumn Club recently celebrated significant anniversaries with special events in Ardrossan.
They offer all sorts of fun activities every week. Think dancing, aqua aerobics, keep fit, and even walking football. It’s a great way for folks to stay active and social.
Last year, they threw a big celebration at the Ardrossan Civic Centre. Over 100 members showed up for tea, coffee, and some tasty food. It was a lovely gathering!
And it’s not just OIR celebrating. The Park Church Autumn Club is also marking 30 years since they started up in 2024.
There have been some changes at the Church of Scotland building, now called Ardrossan Parish Church. It’s a mix of members from the old North Parish and St Cuthbert’s churches. But the Autumn Club has stayed strong, welcoming everyone, especially older folks.
The late Rev Alex Downie had the idea for the club, and it was brought to life by his parishioners back when it was still Park Church.
They’ve grown into a friendly, independent club that’s all about community.
For their anniversary, they had a special luncheon where the last surviving founding members cut a birthday cake. It was a fantastic turnout, and everyone had a great time celebrating together!
