A man approached a 13-year-old girl, assaulted her, and then tried to lure her into a taxi with money in Rotherham
Rotherham: A shocking incident unfolded when a man approached a 13-year-old girl. He offered her £20 to get into a taxi after hitting her in the chest. Can you believe that?
This all happened back in April 2022. The girl was on her way to The Lanes Community Centre when she first encountered Aaron Farrell, 44. He was shouting, and she wasn’t sure if he was calling her or not.
When she asked if he meant her, he got closer and started talking about his phone being taken. She felt uneasy and tried to walk away, hoping he’d just leave her alone.
After going into the community center, she stepped outside again and there he was, bottle in hand. He offered her a drink, and scared, she took a sip. She even called her cousin for help, thinking he needed assistance.
But then things took a turn. He told her to follow him around the corner, and she did. That’s when he grabbed her inappropriately. She pushed him away and called her cousin again, who showed up just in time.
Farrell then asked her cousin to call a taxi for him. He offered the girl £20 to go with him, but she told him she was only 13. The taxi arrived, and he was arrested shortly after.
In court, he admitted to common assault and faced additional charges for other offenses. It turns out he had a history of violence, including attacks on his partner.
Farrell’s lawyer mentioned that his actions were influenced by alcohol, and he expressed regret over what he did to the teenager. The judge sentenced him to 10 months in jail.
It’s a wild story, and it really makes you think about safety and the importance of looking out for each other.
