Plans are underway to convert a vacant Tipton pub into four new flats, breathing new life into the area.
Tipton: An empty pub in Tipton is about to get a makeover. The Old Court House, which shut its doors in 2021, is set to be transformed into four flats. Imran Afzal is behind this exciting project.
Plans also include a new three-storey building with six additional flats at the back of the pub’s car park. The upper floor of the pub has already been turned into a two-bedroom flat, so this is a nice step forward.
The planning application submitted to Sandwell Council outlines that the existing pub will be converted into four two-bedroom flats. Plus, there will be six new two-bedroom flats built at the rear. They’re even planning for ten off-street parking spaces and bike storage, which is pretty handy.
There’s a statement with the application that highlights how they want to keep the look of the street while adding these new homes. They’re also including a communal entrance lobby for each building, which is a nice touch.
To make it even better, there will be a shared outdoor space at the back, along with secure storage for bikes and mobility scooters. The location is great too, with good transport links nearby, including Dudley Port station and the number 74 bus that connects to Birmingham and Dudley.
Earlier this year, Sandwell Council approved another project by Mr. Afzal to build nine flats in a different part of Tipton. They had some concerns about the views of nearby historic churches, but after some adjustments, the plans got the green light.
