Blaenavon: A water treatment company is asking for the green light to store more hazardous chemicals at its site. Water Treatment Products LTD wants to up the amount of stuff like LPG gas and methanol they keep on hand.

They already had permission to store these materials since 2023, but now they want to increase the quantities. This is all happening at the Gilchrist Thomas Industrial Estate.

The company has also sent in its major accident prevention policy to Torfaen Borough Council, which is currently reviewing the application. They’re saying that their business is growing, and they need to keep up with customer demand.

Of course, they’re aware that this means more risk, and they’re committed to keeping their staff and the local environment safe. If anyone wants to check out the application, it’s available at their base, and comments can be sent to the council until January 27.
