A pedestrian lost his life in a collision on the A19 near Wolviston, prompting police investigations and appeals for witnesses.
Wolviston: A tragic incident unfolded on January 4 when a pedestrian was hit by two vehicles on the A19. It was around 8:55 p.m. when the accident occurred, not far from the A689 on-slip.
Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicles involved were a Vauxhall Corsa and a Vauxhall Movano van. It’s just heartbreaking to think about.
Cleveland Police are on the case and have already informed the man’s family, but they’re still waiting for a formal identification. That must be tough for them.
The A19 was shut down in both directions for about six hours while emergency services did their thing. They finally reopened the road around 5 a.m. on January 5.
Police are asking anyone who might have seen the collision or noticed a man in dark clothing walking along the A19, Durham Road, A1027, or Junction Road between 5:30 p.m. and 8:55 p.m. to reach out.
A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said they’re really hoping for any dashcam footage that could help. They’re urging people to contact them with any information.
It’s a tough time for the family, and the police are doing their best to get to the bottom of what happened. If you have any info, don’t hesitate to help out.
