A 13-year-old boy, Tiarnán Trainor, has tragically died following a quad bike accident near Newry, leaving the community in mourning.
His school, St Paul’s High School in Bessbrook, described him as a “much loved and popular” student. He had just been elected to the student council, which shows how well-liked he was. The school opened its oratory for students to come together and remember him.
Everyone is feeling the loss deeply. Tiarnán had a vibrant personality and was known for his love of lorries. His previous school, Jonesborough Primary, expressed their sorrow, saying that words can’t ease the pain of losing someone so young.
Killeavy GAA club, where he played under-14 football, also shared their heartbreak. The 12th Armagh Slieve Gullion Scouts remembered him fondly, and the Armagh Summer School, where he attended Gaelic Games camps, called the news “heartbreaking.”
Local MLA Justin McNulty called the incident “horrendous” and expressed his shock, especially during this time of year. It’s just devastating for Tiarnán’s family and friends.
