Flooding and a crash on the A46 have caused major travel disruptions in Stratford, affecting roads and rail services.
Stratford: It’s a bit of a mess out there today. Heavy rain has caused flooding, making many roads in the Stratford district impassable. Plus, rail services to Birmingham are on hold.
To top it off, the A46 is closed in both directions near Longbridge roundabout because of a crash. Traffic is backed up for miles, and it’s not looking good. Henley is also seeing queues, and the A3400 from Stratford is flooded, leaving some cars stuck.
There’s even a yellow weather warning from the Met Office. They’re saying we could see another 15-25 mm of rain, which could lead to more flooding and travel issues. A bit of sleet and snow might mix in as the rain clears up.
In Stratford, the rain should ease up this morning, but the flooding is still going to be a problem. Here are some of the latest updates on the flooding:
Campden Road into and out of Stratford is having issues, and Kings Coughton is completely impassable. The Burton Farm Recycling Centre is closed, and Cottage Lane in Shottery is blocked with water rising fast.
Shottery brook is flooding Birmingham Road near Tesco, and the road through Snitterfield is also affected. Charlecote bends are passable but flooded, and Little Alne has deep water with cars already stuck.
Fosseway A429 is getting worse with flooding in many areas, and the Evesham Road between Bidford and Stratford is also impacted. Wootton Wawen near Bulls Head is badly flooded, and roads in Mickleton, Honeybourne, and Pebworth are reported as impassable.
We’ll keep you posted with any further updates as they come in.
