Alvaro Iturmendi, a travel insurance expert, mentioned that planning a holiday is exciting, but checking your passport’s validity shouldn’t be overlooked. You don’t want to be caught off guard.
Especially if you’re heading to EU countries like Spain or the Netherlands, your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years before your trip. That’s a rule many folks don’t know about.
Alvaro pointed out that only 43% of travelers are aware of this requirement. If your passport doesn’t meet the criteria, you could be turned away at the border or even miss your flight.
That would definitely throw a wrench in your holiday plans! Since Brexit, the UK has switched to blue passports, but most people still need to renew theirs every 10 years.
