Trentham Monkey Forest will reopen on February 15, 2025, featuring a special photo collage to celebrate its 20th anniversary
Trentham: The monkey forest is set to welcome back visitors on February 15, 2025, after a winter break. It’s a special place home to 140 Barbary macaques.
To celebrate, they’re showcasing a cool photo collage by artist Nathan Wyburn. It features over 500 images from visitors, which is pretty awesome!
This artwork honors ‘Dee,’ the first Barbary macaque born there. It captures 20 years of memories, conservation efforts, and the community vibe.
Since opening in 2005, the forest has seen more than four million visitors. It’s the only spot in the UK where these monkeys can roam freely.
The forest isn’t just a fun day out; it’s a sanctuary for this endangered species. With wild populations dwindling to about 8,000, their work is crucial.
They’ve had over 100 macaque births across five generations, all thriving in a natural setting. Plus, they’ve supported more than 100 research projects to learn more about these amazing creatures.
Tickets for the 2025 season are already up for grabs, so folks can plan their visits and enjoy the park’s beauty.
There’s a special celebration planned for July 19, 2025, called the Birthday Bonanza. Expect a 20% discount on tickets and fun activities for everyone!
The park has been a conservation leader since day one, raising awareness about Barbary macaques worldwide.
Trentham Monkey Forest is one of four parks in the UK dedicated to protecting this species, with the first opening back in 1969.
As the anniversary nears, visitors are encouraged to share their memories using the hashtag #MonkeyForest20 on social media. It’s a great way to celebrate the park’s impact over the years!
