A family mourns the loss of David Gidman, a beloved figure found collapsed in Manchester just before Christmas
Manchester: A family is heartbroken after losing David Thomas Gidman, known as “Giddy.” He was found collapsed in Piccadilly Gardens just two days before Christmas.
David, 44, sadly passed away on New Year’s Day after spending time in intensive care. His family shared that he had a strong presence and a great sense of humor.
They described him as a funny lad who loved to joke around and never took life too seriously. He was always on the go, enjoying movies and the outdoors.
His mum Pam and sister Lyndsey were always there for him, welcoming him home with open arms. They miss him dearly but find comfort knowing he’s at peace with his dad now.
As they grieve, the family has requested privacy. A touching shrine has been set up in Piccadilly Gardens where David was found, filled with flowers, cards, and candles.
One card reads, “To my daddy, gonna miss you always but I will make you proud.” Another tribute says, “Love and miss you millions.”
Online, many are paying tribute to David as a true gentleman. The area where he was found has also been a spot for rough sleepers, highlighting the community’s struggles.
