Aziz Ziriat and Samuel Harris vanished while hiking in the Dolomites, prompting a search and rescue operation that faced challenging weather conditions
Dolomites: So, two British guys, Aziz Ziriat and Samuel Harris, have been missing for almost a week now. They were out hiking in northern Italy when they last checked in on January 1st.
They were supposed to fly back to the UK but missed their flight. That’s got to be a tough situation. A search and rescue team jumped into action, but they had to pause because it got dark and the weather turned nasty.
On the day they disappeared, the guys were thought to be at a spot called Malga Dosson, right at the base of the Carè Alto mountain. It’s a beautiful area, but it can be tricky.
Rescuers tried to use a helicopter for an aerial view, but fog and bad visibility sent them back. Ground teams and drones also had to sit tight because of the weather and avalanche risks.
Good news is, the weather is expected to clear up tomorrow. They’ve got a plan ready to send out a helicopter and drones to search again.
Friends and family are really worried, and there’s been a lot of buzz on social media trying to find them. Even Crystal Palace Football Club, where Aziz works, has been spreading the word.
One of their friends, Joe Stone, shared on Instagram that he’s super concerned and just wants to find them. Fingers crossed they turn up safe soon!
