Two men face charges following a police-related incident at Manchester Airport earlier this year
Manchester: So, there was this incident at Manchester Airport back in July, and now two guys are in some serious trouble. The Crown Prosecution Service has charged them after they got into a scuffle with police.
One of the guys, Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, who’s just 20 and from Rochdale, is facing multiple charges. We’re talking two counts of actual bodily harm, plus assaulting an emergency worker and a common assault charge. That’s a lot for one person!
The other guy, Muhammad Amaad, is 25 and also from Rochdale. He’s been charged with one count of causing actual bodily harm. They’re both set to appear in court on January 16, 2025, in Liverpool.
GMP’s chief constable, Stephen Watson, expressed his support for the charges. He mentioned that it’s good to see action taken against those who assaulted officers and a member of the public at the airport.
Watson also noted that an officer involved in the incident has had their suspension lifted, but the misconduct investigation is still ongoing. He emphasized the importance of letting the court process unfold without any outside noise or speculation.
It’s a pretty serious situation, and it’s clear that everyone is keeping a close eye on how things develop from here.
