Authorities are urging the public to stay away as they work to capture the newly spotted lynx safely
Kingussie: So, it looks like there are two more lynx hanging out in the Scottish Highlands. The police are on it, but they’re asking folks not to get too close. They’ve got some specially trained teams working to capture these big cats safely.
This all started after two lynx were caught just the day before. It’s a bit of a wild situation, right? Police Scotland Highlands and Islands mentioned they got reports of these new lynx sightings near Kingussie.
They’re really stressing that people should keep their distance. They’re trying to figure out how these lynx ended up out there in the first place, especially since two others were already caught after being released illegally.
First Minister John Swinney didn’t hold back, saying the release was totally wrong. He thanked everyone involved in getting the lynx back safely. The Highland Wildlife Park teamed up with the police to make sure the animals were captured without any fuss.
Once caught, the lynx were taken to quarantine before heading to Edinburgh Zoo for a health check. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland is also involved, and they’re not happy about the illegal release. They said it was a reckless move that could have put the lynx and the public at risk.
But hey, it seems like the “Killiehuntly Two,” as they’re being called for now, are doing alright health-wise. Let’s hope they get the care they need and stay safe!
