In a shocking incident, two security guards were shot in Los Angeles after confronting a shoplifting suspect, leaving the community on edge.
Los Angeles: So, there was this crazy incident downtown where two security guards got shot. They were just doing their job, trying to stop a guy who was walking out of a store with a suitcase full of stolen stuff.
According to the police, when the guards confronted him, shots were fired, and the guy took off on a bike. Thankfully, both guards are in stable condition now, but the suspect is still on the loose.
This shooting comes after a year where people in California have really been fed up with retail theft. Voters even passed a measure to make shoplifting a felony for repeat offenders. It’s been a hot topic, especially with all those viral videos showing people just running into stores and grabbing stuff.
One shopper, Judith Conway, was at a Target nearby when the shots rang out. She said everyone started running and screaming, trying to find safety. It must have been terrifying!
Luckily, no other shoppers were hurt, but it definitely shook up the whole area.
