A tragic New Year’s Day crash in Preston leaves two teens dead and two others critically injured
Preston: It’s such a sad situation. Two teenagers, just 16 and 18, lost their lives in a crash early on New Year’s Day. It happened around 1:20 AM when a grey VW Golf and a black Vauxhall Grandland collided on Staithes Road.
The 16-year-old died right there at the scene, and the 18-year-old was rushed to the hospital but sadly couldn’t be saved. It’s heartbreaking.
There were two other passengers in the cars, a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy, who are now fighting for their lives in the hospital. The driver of the VW Golf only had minor injuries, but it’s still a lot to deal with.
In the Vauxhall, a 62-year-old man also suffered serious injuries. The woman driving that car, who’s 34, hurt her arm badly and was taken to the hospital too. It’s just a tough situation for everyone involved.
Humberside Police are on it, saying they’ve informed the families and are providing support during this really hard time. They’re also asking anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam footage to reach out to them.
