Ukraine has unveiled a terrifying drone that uses molten metal to target enemy troops, marking a new phase in warfare technology.
Pokrovsk: So, have you heard about this new drone Ukraine’s been using? It’s pretty wild. They’ve got this drone that sprays molten metal on enemy troops. Yeah, you heard that right!
This drone carries something called thermite, which is a mix of aluminum and iron oxide. It’s been around for ages, originally used for welding railway tracks. But now, it’s being used in a whole new way.
Ukrainian forces are really stepping up their game against the Russians. They fly these drones over where the Russian soldiers are hiding and then boom! They remotely set off the canisters, and molten metal rains down on them. It burns super hot, over 2000 degrees Celsius!
One defense analyst said it’s really nasty stuff. And using a drone to deliver it? That’s pretty clever. I wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of that, for sure.
Even though it sounds horrific, these thermite drones aren’t banned by international law as long as they’re aimed at military targets. One commander mentioned that they’ve been using these drones to flush out Russian troops so they can hit them with regular weapons.
He claimed that since they started operating in Pokrovsk, they’ve taken out over 3,000 Russian soldiers. That’s a serious number!
But it’s not all good news. A Human Rights Watch report pointed out the terrible injuries these bombs can cause. They can mess up muscles, tendons, and even bones. It’s a brutal way to fight.
